Dive Pirates is a fund raising organization that was formed in 2003 to bring Adaptive Divers into the mainstream diving community. In 2004 their focus was on returning Iraqi vets who were amputees as a result of wounds received in combat. Part of their focus remains with the general public adaptive divers but they work very closely with the veterans that are still returning from combat with injuries. Their goal is to introduce scuba as a lifelong sport even though many cannot participate in other sporting activities. Husker Divers is a chapter of the national Dive Pirate Organization.
