Open Water Scuba Classes The first weekend is classroom and pool. You can check our calendar for exact weekends. It is a take-home study so you need to get the kit in advance. There is an easy reading book to complete plus you need to watch a video tape. The second weekend you
will be diving in a local lake. The skills that you have mastered in the
swimming pool will be repeated. There will be plenty of fun diving with our
local freshwater fish. You will need to buy your own mask, snorkel, boots and fins before the pool session. If you purchase these items from Husker Divers you will receive a discount for taking class with us. These items should be custom fitted to you and your needs. Husker Divers teaches
SSI Open Water certification through Instructor. We also have an
experienced underwater photographer on staff for the divers that want to learn
how to take first class photos. Medic First Aid - CPR/First Aid/AED Classes Feb 15th & March 14 at 6 p.m. These
classes are for both divers and non-divers. The class is given with a very
informative DVD and hands on training. Don’t be called upon for an emergency
and not have the skills. The life you save might be a family member. Equipment Class January 28th at 1 p.m. The use of a high-quality and properly maintained Total Divine System enhances the enjoyment and safety of scuba diving. You will learn the basics of: Selecting and adjusting the components of your Total Diving System, Performing basic maintenance on the components of your Total Diving System, Traveling with your total Diving System, Performing basic field adjustments and Caring for & storing your equipment between dive trips. You will find out how your system works and what it looks like if the system isn't properly maintained. Price of the class is $95. Please sign up in advance and complete the take home portion.
If
you take both specialties in the same weekend you get a special price of $140
for both. The NAVIGATION Program will teach you to navigate with a compass and how to apply natural navigation skills. You will also learn to estimate distances, navigate different search patterns, find your way to different marking points, and be able to get back to the exit point at any time. & Rescue/Search & Recovery
- March 17 ![]() Stress is a major contributor to rescue situations and diving accidents. Through this course you will learn accident prevention, as well as how to handle problem situations if they occur. We will concentrate on stress in the diver and how to avoid that panic feeling. The program is about avoiding, recognizing and solving problems on the surface and under water. The course is one day in classroom and two days in open waters. As a prerequisite for certification you need to have a valid CPR & First Aid certificate. You need to own or rent your own equipment. Search
and Recovery ClassSSI offers a structured program for SEARCH AND RECOVERY where you will learn to perform different search patterns with the help of ropes and compasses, and to plan search and recovery operations in a team. You will also learn the correct handling of one or more lifting bags in order to bring heavy objects securely to the surface.

If
you are going to take a scuba class, whether classroom or on-line, you will be
asked to fill out a medical form. That form is below. If you answer yes to any
of the questions it does not necessarily mean you cannot dive, it just means
you need to have your doctor sign the physical form below before you will be
allowed to participate in the pool or open waters. All of this is to help
ensure your safety.
